Round vs Square: Why Platform Shape Matters in Retail Display
A square platform creates a structured, geometric floor presence. A round display platform creates a softer, more approachable one. That distinction affects how shoppers interact with the display. Round platforms invite shoppers to walk around them — the curved perimeter draws movement naturally in a circular path, which means shoppers view the mannequin or product on the platform from multiple angles without being directed by a corner or edge. Consequently, a round platform generates more multi-angle shopper engagement than a square one in the same floor position.
Furthermore, the circular shape reads as more organic and boutique in contemporary retail aesthetics. Many premium fashion stores and beauty retailers use round platforms and circular fixtures throughout the store to communicate a softer, more curated brand identity. In contrast, the square platform communicates a more architectural, structured identity. Choose round when the store's visual language is warm, curved, and lifestyle-oriented. Choose square when the aesthetic is more structured and geometric.
36" Diameter at 12" Height: Proportioned for Mannequin and Feature Display
The 36" diameter gives this round display platform a generous surface area that comfortably accommodates a full-size mannequin base — most standard bases measure between 12" and 18" across, well within the 36" circle. The platform also suits large product arrangements, centrepiece props, and oversized decorative elements that benefit from a circular base that does not impose a directional front or back.
At 12" overall height with a 9" skirt, the proportion is the same as the square platform in this collection. Both share the same polished chrome leg hardware at 3" diameter. Consequently, a retailer who uses both the round and square platforms in the same store gets a consistent leg finish and height across both shapes — maintaining a cohesive fixture aesthetic regardless of platform placement.
