12 Inch Kids Wood Hanger — Right Size for Children's Apparel
Hanger width is the most important sizing decision in a children's clothing display. An adult hanger at 16 to 17 inches leaves the shoulder seam hanging well past the edge of a child's garment — the display looks oversized and the garment loses its shape on the rail. A 12-inch kids wood hanger fits the shoulder width of most children's tops and dresses correctly. The garment hangs at its intended shoulder seam, the silhouette reads accurately, and the display presents the correct size impression to the shopper. Furthermore, consistent hanger sizing across a children's rack makes the full run look neat and intentional rather than assembled from mixed hanger sizes.
Children's Wooden Hanger — Wood vs Plastic for Retail Display
Plastic hangers are the volume option for back-of-house storage and low-cost retail environments. A children's wooden hanger, however, communicates quality on the sales floor in a way that plastic cannot. The weight of the wood keeps the hanger — and the garment on it — stable on the rail without swinging or tilting under browsing pressure. The 3/8-inch wood thickness gives the hanger enough body to hold the garment's shoulder shape without crushing the fabric the way thin wire or plastic alternatives can. For children's boutiques and premium kids' apparel sections within larger stores, wood hangers are the standard display choice because they elevate the perceived value of the merchandise they carry.
White or Varnish Finish — Match Your Store's Aesthetic
White finish suits clean, bright, or Scandinavian-influenced children's retail environments where white fixtures, white shelving, and white hangers create a cohesive light-toned display. Varnish finish shows the natural wood grain and suits warmer, more organic store aesthetics — boutiques that use natural wood fixtures, raw timber shelving, or earthy display palettes. Both finishes use the same chrome hardware, so the hook and any bar hardware remain consistent between the two color options. Select the finish at checkout that aligns with your existing store palette. According to Wikipedia's overview of visual merchandising, hanger material and finish are considered part of the overall fixture presentation and directly influence shopper perception of product quality and store positioning.
