Aluminum Slatwall Panels Metal Display
Aluminum slatwall is a solid aluminum display panel system available in four groove spacings — 1", 1.5", 2", and 3" on center. Unlike MDF slatwall, aluminum panels are fully metal — no wood core, no laminate face, no risk of moisture damage. Strength tested at over 50 lbs per linear foot. Standard stock colors are available, and custom colors can be ordered on request. All panels accept standard slatwall hooks, shelves, faceouts, and hangrails. Learn more about slatwall display systems and how aluminum panels compare to MDF alternatives.
Aluminum slatwall is the right choice when standard MDF slatwall is not appropriate for the environment. It handles moisture, humidity, and temperature variation without swelling, warping, or delaminating — making it practical for outdoor retail, garden centers, car washes, food service environments, and any location where MDF would fail. The metal surface is also significantly harder than laminate-faced MDF, resisting dents, scratches, and impact from daily commercial use. Four Groove Spacings | Choose Based on Your Display Needs
1" On Center — The tightest groove spacing available. Gives the most accessory placement flexibility — hooks and faceouts can be positioned closer together for dense merchandise displays. Available in single-sided and double-slat configurations.
1.5" On Center — A mid-tight spacing that balances accessory density with a cleaner visual. Good for general merchandise, accessories, and apparel displays where some flexibility is needed but tight packing is not required.
2" On Center — Standard mid-range spacing. Works well for most retail accessory and apparel wall displays. The groove lines are spaced far enough apart to keep the wall visually open without sacrificing positioning flexibility.
3" On Center — Standard spacing that matches most MDF slatwall accessories. Use this if you are running aluminum slatwall alongside existing MDF slatwall installations and want accessory compatibility across both surfaces.
Aluminum Slatwall vs MDF Slatwall — When to Choose Metal
MDF slatwall is the standard for most indoor retail environments — it is cost-effective, easy to install, and available in a wide range of finishes. Aluminum slatwall is specified when the environment demands more. It will not absorb moisture, will not swell at the grooves, and will not delaminate if the surface gets wet. The metal construction handles heavier accessory loads per linear foot and resists physical damage that would chip or dent a laminate face. For outdoor retail, humid environments, high-traffic commercial installations, or anywhere durability outweighs cost, aluminum is the better long-term choice.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can standard slatwall accessories be used with aluminum slatwall?
Yes. Standard slatwall hooks, faceouts, shelves, and hangrails fit aluminum slatwall panels. For the 3" on-center version, all standard MDF slatwall accessories are directly compatible. For 1", 1.5", and 2" spacings, use accessories designed for those groove spacings — most standard slatwall hardware is sized for 3" O.C.
Is aluminum slatwall suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. Aluminum slatwall is moisture-resistant and will not swell, warp, or delaminate when exposed to humidity or outdoor conditions. It is a practical choice for garden centers, outdoor retail kiosks, car wash retail areas, and any environment where MDF slatwall would fail due to moisture exposure.
