Why Start with Two Uprights
A single Palo outrigger upright mounted to a wall is a vertical pole — it has no horizontal span to support accessories. Two uprights create the span. A hangbar, shelf bracket, or faceout connects between two uprights at any chosen height. That span between two uprights is the working unit of the Palo System. Order two uprights at minimum to begin. Order additional uprights at the same 24", 36", or 48" spacing to extend the wall system to the right or left along the full wall length.
The spacing choice — 24", 36", or 48" from upright center to upright center — determines how many hangbar or shelf positions exist along the wall run. Tighter spacing at 24" creates more upright positions per linear foot of wall. Wider spacing at 48" gives each bay more open visual space and suits stores where a clean, open wall aesthetic matters more than maximum accessory density.
Round Bar Upright: The Visual Difference in the Palo System
Most wall outrigger uprights use square or rectangular tube profiles. The Palo outrigger upright uses a 1-3/8" round bar in anodized aluminum. That round profile is visually slimmer and lighter than square tube alternatives. It catches light differently at the wall surface — the rounded surface reflects ambient light smoothly rather than at the defined flat faces of a square tube. That reflective quality gives the Palo System an intentional, designed appearance that suits contemporary boutiques and premium retail environments.
Anodized aluminum provides corrosion resistance and a consistent surface finish that maintains its appearance under daily retail handling without the chipping or scratching that painted steel finishes develop over time. Frequently Asked Questions
How many Palo outrigger uprights do I need for my wall?
Order one upright per planned upright position in the wall layout. At 24" spacing, a 12-foot wall needs 7 uprights. At 36" spacing, the same 12-foot wall needs 5 uprights. At 48" spacing, it needs 4. Add two uprights for every additional 24", 36", or 48" bay added to the wall run. Start with the minimum two uprights for a single bay installation and add uprights to extend the system as the store layout requires.
What accessories fit this upright?
All five Palo System accessories mount to this upright — rotating shelf brackets, rectangular hangbars, round tube hangbars, round tube faceouts, and sign clamp sets. Each accessory clips or slides onto the 1-3/8" round bar at any height along the 96 inch span. No tools are required to position, reposition, or remove accessories at any point. Order the accessories separately in the Palo System collection.
Can the uprights be cut to a shorter height?
The uprights ship at the standard 96 inch height. Call (800) 420-1457 before ordering to discuss custom height requirements. Standard retail ceiling heights of 10 feet or more accommodate the 96 inch upright without modification for most installations.
